Activate the SMS service for card and acted very promptly within 2-3 days of transaction. All users should learn from this. A stitch in time saves nine.
Here are the suggestions
1. You must first of all write to them physically about misuse of the credit card.
2. Ask for the complete details of the card transactions, item purchased and the details of the IP address from where the internet transaction has occurred.
3. For the safety purpose, block your credit card straight way and ask them to issue another Card.
4. Keep record of the credit card transaction always handy.

- give a call to call center - explain the case and say, you are filing a dispute for this. note the time, date and person with whom you talked. Take the complaint number.
- with complaint detail, number etc., write a letter to Credit Card Provider. If possible visit them personally and get an acknowledged copy back for you. If they don't give you acknowledgement, send via registered post.
- Mention in your conversation and complaint letter - You are ready to co operate in case of police complaint. (I feel its a fraud with Credit card provider as you have filed a dispute within reasonable time, the Bank shall take a decision about police complaint)
- Block the card.
- As it is internet transaction, you will not be having much of documentation but keep credit card bill etc, SMS and any other information if you have for future reference.
- Keep record of all communication you receive from Credit Card Provider (via phone, mail or person)

The credit card cos do not normally encourage visitors, nor is a personal visit, if at all possible, recommended . But indeed, a record of all conversations incl: date/time/person talked to/his -her response must be kept and referred in a follow up email via the credit card issuer website .Posted 05-21-2009 at 06:25 AM by One stop shop

In case of card misuse, report promptly as soon as you get to know of the fraudulent transaction, preferably to the cyber cell of the local Police, where ever it exists . And keep all physical and electronic records safely in one file/folder .
But prevention is better than cure . So the best way is to look at your credit cards usage every second day on the card issuer bank's website . Most MNC Banks like Stanchart, ABN AMRO, Citi Bank etc including our desi ICICI Bank post new transactions almost immediately on the web on the card holders accounts .Posted 05-21-2009 at 06:28 AM by One stop shop
