My dealer at goregaon has asked me o surrender the cylinder valve and other things back to him so that we can further proceed with the transfer. Do I have to do this also i need to to know if I surrender my equiptments to him will I have to pay for the equiptments at the new dealer. We have Rs 500 deposit at the old dealer

There are two methods:
1. Surrender your gas connection at older place, and take any new connection at new place. (costly but hassle free, only a problem if the Gas connections are in short supply at new place)
2. Surrender the equipment and Cylinder at the old place, get the transfer certificate from the old Gas Connection dealer.

In second case:
  • You can deposit both Regulator and Cylinder at the old dealer (in many cases, the dealer allows you to carry your own Regulator. To this effect, give a written letter that you would be carrying your previous Regulator with you)
  • Sign the Documents there at old dealer, and get the transfer certificate from old dealer
  • Produce the certificate at new place and get the Cylinder and Regulator.
  • There are no charges on transfer, and no money is to be paid to any dealer.

Priyanaka,
Go for second option
. Surrender the Empty Cylinder and Regulator you will get a transfer voucher and at next place you can give the same and get filled cylinder and new regulator. Off course you have to pay the price of the gas.

Dont worry be happy.
If you are on transfer to another place, still you dont need to surrender the cylinder

Just go to your present dealer and tell him that you are going in customer court or regional office of the same company, Whatever suggestion your dealer has tell him to give you in writing on their letter head
He will definitely entertain you. After getting transfer documents you just need to get it approved from regional office (where you want to shift) of the same company which will take hardly 1 hr.

I have done it while shifting from mumbai to pune.
