And we didn't bother to change address/status on our passports as we are able to travel without any problems. We are blessed with a baby girl few days before and I want to take her along with me to US, so I have to apply for her passport. I have her birth certificate too. But from private agents, I came to know that first our(parents) passports should have each other's names as spouse in the passports first and only then I can apply for my kids passport. We have our marriage certificate. Wont this suffice? Can myself alone apply for my kids passport without my wife coming to passport office? If its mandatory to have spouse name on passport, how much time will it take? I have to leave to US for an important work next weekend and I cannot afford my passport being blocked at passport office. As my wife is going to stay here, can the addition of spouse in her passport alone will be enough? I heard that xerox of both of our passports are required to apply for my kid's passport. In this case do both of us have to include spouse names? Someone please help me get rid of this confusion. |

And she applied for my kid's passport and I have to send them notarized documents saying that I dont have any problems in applying for my kid's passport. Lengthy process... so my I couldnt bring my family with me at the time I posted this thread... |

And I am planning to be in Mumbai to submit the infant PP application alongwith my wife. Do you think in such case, I would require to get the notarized affidavit from Indian commission in UK? What other documents are required apart from birth certificate of child, original/passport copies of parents, photographs? Please advise. Quote:

For a kid's passport to apply, they should understand that nither of the parents have problem with that. If both can attend during application submission, it should be fine. Both of you can go and apply I guess. All you need is ur marriage cert, passports, kid's birth certificate and kid's photographs along with your address proof. Anyway try to look at the instructions behind the application form for rules. They will guide you clearly. |

Real Name: Suresh Downloads: 0 Uploads: 0 | Hi Chirnag, I am in similar situation as you were. I am in U.S now. My wife and kid are in India and I don't have my spouse name added in my passport. My wife has passport. She will apply for kid's passport from India. Please clarify whether I have to apply to add spouse name in my passport before requesting for the Sworn affidavit. Your response will be much appreciated. |
