passport ECNR/ECR status

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I don't have any kind of information on my passport about ECNR/ECR status,as it is left blank without stampon it.So i request you to please guide the meaning of it and if required kindly mention the required document and tlme taken for processing it.

Recently issued passports do not carry ECR/ ECNR status implying automatically ''ECNR status'' . This info is as given on the official website ''We are no longer affixing ECNR stamp in passports. In fact it is not even printed in the new passport booklets. Currently, only ECR stamp is being put in passports if applicant is not eligible for ECNR''. So i guess you don't have to worry!

As I have eluded earlier it just means that you do not require Emigration clearance. Which is good. You don't have to do anything further, all is well.

I want to clear my ECR status.

I have got employment visa and have taken air ticket to dubai. After reaching airport I came to know about ECR so I was not able to fly. Wat wil be the processing time for clearing ECR status and wat is the procedure

Extract from "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding Passport Rules and Regulations"
Ans: - We are no longer affixing ECNR stamp in passports. In fact it is not even printed in the new passport booklets. Currently, only ECR stamp is being put in passports if applicant is not eligible for ECNR. However, you are entitled to ECNR status if you possess qualification of Matriculation or above. Even you can get ECNR status on the basis of provisional matriculation certificate if the mark sheets of all semesters of your course are available with you.
