I had applied for an prepaid card a year and a half back with vodafone with their standard billing plan . I also updated a validity coupon to extend it to to lifetime.Even after extending the validiety i had around a 1000 rupees of talktime left. Around a year back due to professional compulsions I was forced to use a company phone because of which I had to put aside the above obtained vodafone simcard . Now when i put the vodofone sim into my phone , the phone displayed an error that the sim card was not registered . So I immediately called up vodafone where I was informed that the phone was disconnected due to inactivity as well as atleast a Rs 200 refill was to have been made for the phone to remain active. I am given to understand the number I had, has been given to somebody else. So apart from the loss of the number , I stand to lose around Rs1500 .Till date I have not received any intimation about closure of my mobile account from them till today when I called up to enquire about the irregularity. When I asked for compensation on money I have spent on the talktime they straightaway replied that the refund is not possible and If wanted to discuss this matter that I am supposed to go vodafone gallery but the chances of refund are zero. Is this kind of attitude and business proper? This is like an MNC which conducts highway robbery . Would appreciate some help on how to get my money back and stop such MNCs to make fools out of public. Thanks and waiting for replies Last edited by rowan; 04-15-2009 at 04:21 PM. |

Filing complaint with Consumer Forum is not advisable for a sum of Rs.1500/-, Pl send email to their Nodal Officer for Maharashtra by refering to consumer care link on the website. If he does not solve your problem within 15 days U can scale up to Review Authority of Vodafone whose details are on its website. I have posted few articles on my jps50 blog on consumer protection on this portal. U may refer them for guidance. |

In this particular case, you need to consult a lawyer and approach district consumer grievances forum for help . Generally there is no need for the company to give you disconnection notice, which is akin to the situation where you do not sue your email for several months/year, that account gets deactivated, and then your username is available to be allotted to anyone else. |

If the customer does not recharge, they send reminder sms on the customer's number. Since you did not use the card for so long, possibly you missed out on the reminder sms. Of course, Vodafone cannot be expected to call you on your other numbers (if any provided by you) to remind you about recharging your card. |
